Adaptive Cruise Control*

An outstanding, technological advancement, standard on the new Superb is Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)* - an extension of the conventional cruise control system with advanced capabilities based on a radar sensor located on the front grille. When ACC is activated, the vehicle automatically brakes and accelerates to a speed and distance set by the driver. The dynamics of the ACC system can be
individually varied by selecting one of the driving programs
from the Driving Mode Selection.
*Safety technologies are not a substitute for the driver's
responsibility of the vehicle.

Front Assist with City Emergency Brake*

Front Assist* is a safety system that warns of the danger of collision, and in case of an unavoidable collision applies the brakes in an attempt to minimise the consequences.

Front Assist* works with a radar sensor integrated into the radiator grille, constantly monitoring the distance from the traffic ahead.

If the gap becomes too small or a collision is impending and the driver fails to react, the system automatically intervenes at one
of four levels:

  • a visual alert that the statutory safe distance has been exceeded,
  • an acoustic and visual warning signal,
  • an automatic jolt of the brakes,
  • automatic braking to avoid a collision or reduce the severity
    of the accident.

*Safety technologies are not a substitute for the driver's responsibility of the vehicle.

Side Assist - Blind Spot Detection^*

Side Assist (Blind Spot Detection)^* helps the driver to change lanes safely by registering any vehicles in the blind spot.

Two radar sensors located in the lower part of the rear bumper monitor the area beside and up to 20 metres behind the ŠKODA Superb.

When the system detects vehicles in the blind spot next to the car or approaching from behind, an LED symbol in the wing mirror lights up to alert the driver. If the driver indicates in the direction of the detected vehicle, the LED starts to flash, indicating the possible danger to the driver.

Blind Spot Detection is active from 10 km/h up to the vehicle's top speed.

Passenger Protect Assist

This feature coordinates the activities of the onboard systems to minimise emergency traffic situations.

  • The system pre-tensions the front seat belts in the event of unstable driving situations, such as severe over- or understeering, and also engages with the ESC to close the side windows and sunroof almost fully in order to prevent foreign objects from entering the vehicle.
  • Additionally, the system works with the front radar. This Passenger Protect Assist - Front can provide anticipative reactions using the Adaptive Cruise Control’s front sensors.

Lane Assist^*

Lane Assist^* is a lane departure warning system that is designed to help reduce the likelihood of the vehicle leaving the road or crossing into an oncoming lane and therefore the risk of accident as a result of driver distraction or a lapse in concentration. Using a camera positioned within the rear-view mirror unit, it actively recognises lane markings and takes corrective action by gently steering you back on course. The system is also equipped with a warning tone and message in the multi-function display for situations that require additional actions from the driver.

not a substitute for the driver's responsibility of the vehicle.

Traffic Jam Assist^*

Traffic Jam Assist^* system provides more safety and comfort in traffic jams and stop-and-go traffic.

Traffic Jam Assist taps into the Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)* and Lane Assist* systems. At speeds of up to 60 km/h, the system lets the car drive partly automatically, easing the stress of traffic jams and monotonous traffic situations.

If ACC is active at the same time, it follows the vehicle in front and autonomously controls the accelerator and brakes, no matter how congested the road is. The driver’s hands must remain on the steering wheel for this function to remain active.

Emergency Assist^*

Emergency Assist^* intervenes if the driver becomes incapacitated.

If the event that no steering wheel movement is detected for a defined period of time, a warning signal sounds. If the driver fails to respond, the system initiates a slight swerve. If there is still no reaction from the driver, the hazard lights are automatically activated as the vehicle is automatically brought to a complete standstill.

Emergency Assist works in combination with the automatic DSG transmission, Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Assist^* functions.

ESC with Multicollision Brake

If a car is involved in an accident and the airbags are
deployed, it could remain in motion and cause another accident…

The Multi-collision Brake feature has been designed to provide effective assistance for the driver in the moments after an accident.

… which is where the Multicollision Brake comes in, bringing the vehicle to a standstill to prevent a pile-up.

Multi-collision Brake triggers automatic controlled braking once an initial collision has been detected so as to reduce the intensity of further accidents after a collision and can help prevent follow-on collisions with oncoming traffic.

Fatigue Detection

Fatigue Detection* reduces the risk of a fatigue-induced emergency situation.

Fatigue Detection* monitor s the movement of the driver through the steering wheel and if the driver begins to display signs of fatigue, the car will audibly alert the driver with a tone and show a break recommendation alert on the multi-function display.

Top lighting systems for optimum
"see and be seen"

The visibility of a vehicle plays a central role in road traffic
safety. Innovative lighting systems guarantee optimum "see
and be seen" for the new ŠKODA Superb. The front headlights
are fitted with bi-xenon technology, including the
Adaptive Frontlight System (AFS) and LED daytime running
lights.
Striking LED lights adorn the rear of the new Superb as standard and there are two reflectors on each side of the rear bumper.

The bi-xenon headlights with AFS optimise the illumination of the road and surroundings in line with the driving and weather conditions and adapt to different traffic situations.

The new surround parking sensors complement the Park Assist perfectly. The parking sensors assist the driver with parking and work in conjunction with all of the infotainment systems available for the Superb.

Overseas Model Shown
Safer and easier parking
Driving in and out of parking spaces is safer and more convenient than ever before thanks to a whole range of assistant systems: Automatic Parking Assist*^, Rear Traffic Alert^* and the rear-view camera*.

^Available in optional Tech Pack. *Safety technologies are not a substitute for the driver's responsibility of the vehicle.
Parallel parking
With Automatic Parking Assist^*, The Superb can search for a suitable parking space up to 40km/h. Once the sensors find a space large enough (i.e. length of the car + 60 cm), the system lends a hand with the parking manoeuvres.

^Available in optional Tech Pack. *Safety technologies are not a substitute for the driver's responsibility of the vehicle.
Driving out of a parking space
Setting off from tiny spaces is easier, too. In this mode, the Automatic Parking Assist^* manoeuvres the Superb back and forth until you can exit the row of parked cars.

^Available in optional Tech Pack. *Safety technologies are not a substitute for the driver's responsibility of the vehicle.
Perpendicular parking backwards
The system detects a proper parking space between cars and performs the parking manoeuvre almost automatically. The car's electronics control the steering wheel while the driver uses the accelerator and brake pedal.
Perpendicular parking forwards
The Automatic Parking Assist^* semi-automatically guides the car forwards into transversal parking spaces. The system assists the driver by automatically carrying out optimal steering wheel movements to park within the lines, the driver just has to accelerate and brake.

^Available in optional Tech Pack. *Safety technologies are not a substitute for the driver's responsibility of the vehicle.
Rear view camera*
This feature uses a mini camera positioned in the tailgate. When reverse gear is engaged, the camera is automatically activated and the image is shown on the infotainment system display. Dynamic guide lines laid over the image show the direction in which the vehicle would go with the current position of the steering wheel or indicate when it should be turned.

*Safety technologies are not a substitute for the driver's responsibility of the vehicle.
Rear Traffic Alert
When reversing out of parking bays, Rear Traffic Alert*^ recognises vehicles approaching from the sides. An acoustic signal warns of an impending collision. In addition, the “critical side” from which another vehicle is approaching is shown first in yellow and then in red on the infotainment display. The brakes are automatically applied if necessary.

^Available in optional Tech Pack. *Safety technologies are not a substitute for the driver's responsibility of the vehicle.
